Mardin blacksmith, Mehmet Sait Arı, made the model of the black train, which was included in the Nusaybin-Baghdad railway network built in 1918, but did not come to Mardin for 30 years.
MARDIN (IGFA) – {4 } Once upon a time, we listened to the story of the black train going to Istanbul, Mardin, Baghdad and Hejaz, and the model of the train made by the blacksmith master Mehmet Sait Arı lasted exactly 6 months.
Arı, who realized his childhood dreams about the train, Thanks to his model, he lives with the hope that the train will come to Mardin one day.
Blacksmith master Mehmet Sait Arı, who stated that he made the model of the black train, which was included in the Nusaybin-Baghdad railway network built in 1918, but did not come to Mardin for 30 years. He said that he completed his model after 6 months of work from pipes, bolts and similar metals in my shop.
Arı stated that there has not been a black train to Mardin for 30 years and said, “There is no train station in Mardin now. The train has not been coming to Mardin for years. Maybe this model will be instrumental in the arrival of a train to Mardin, ”he said. Stating that he was watching this train at a young age and that he was longing for the train when the trips were stopped, Arı said, “I made the model of the Istanbul, Mardin, Baghdad and Hejaz railway black train. My model is 110 centimeters long, 50 centimeters high and 22 centimeters wide; I completed it in 6 months. Ever since I was little, I used to watch this train. Thirty years ago, various cargoes were transported to Mardin by this train. People would travel from here to Istanbul by train. When we were children, we used to watch the train from the dominant point in Mardin. We would have noticed its coming from afar, from its smoke. ”
CURIOUS PEOPLE COME TO SEE THE TRAIN
After working in the machinery maintenance department at the Mardin Cement Factory, to set up their own business. Noting that he quit his job and opened a blacksmith shop, Arı said, “I made this train model from waste pipes, bolts and similar metals in the shop in 6 months. Maybe this model will be instrumental in returning the train to Mardin. A train station should be built in Mardin; because the train is the most beautiful and important transportation network of international culture. The train has not been coming to Mardin for 30 years. I set out with that dream and made this model. Our little one passed by watching the train. We were seeing the Mesopotamia Plain from Mardin. The train was coming there. We would notice the train in its black smoke. Usually we would hear his voice in the mornings and evenings. It was one of the first steam trains to come out, so not a modern train. I thought of making a wagon for this; but since it would be too long, I would have trouble leaving it in front of the shop in the morning and letting it in in the evening. I did it this way for comfortable transportation. Those who see this look with curiosity and stand in front of them and take pictures. One day, an old uncle tears up when he sees the train I built. He retired from the railways. He was moved when he saw this model. We very much want a station to be set up and a train to arrive in Mardin. “
