FEW HOURS LEFT TO TURKEY’S BIGGEST MARATHON

The excitement is at its peak just hours before the start of the Iznik Ultra Marathon, Turkey’s biggest marathon race. The marathon, which will be held in Iznik on 6-8 August 2021, will be held in eight categories.

The countdown has begun for Turkey’s most popular and biggest trail race, “Iznik Ultra”. Due to the pandemic, close to 1000 athletes will participate in the race, which will be held for the 9th time on 6-8 August 2021 this year. Athletes will experience an adventurous race by crossing natural tracks of 160, 90, 55,35,25 and 13km. The event will end with the 5km Iznik Unesco Run and the Children’s Run.

By the Adventure Academy, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Turkish Athletics Federation, Bursa Governorship, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Iznik Municipality, it will be a full running festival. The Iznik Ultra Marathon, which was prepared, is organized with the cooperation of many private sectors. Organized for the first time in 2012 with 87 competitors, Iznik Ultra has grown 10 times in the last five years in terms of participation. Races, where participation increases every year, set the standard for trails and ultra-runs in Turkey. In addition, over 1000 participants are expected to participate in this year’s races.

A UNIQUE MARATHON IN HISTORY AND NATURE

A few hours before the start of the Iznik Ultra Marathon, Turkey’s largest marathon race, the Mayor of Iznik Kagan Mehmet Usta made a statement. Mayor Usta said, “Iznik Ultra Marathon, which is among the most important events of our country, will host more than 1000 national and international athletes this year. will experience an adventurous race. In addition, among the historical monuments, the competitors will have the chance to run in a magnificent atmosphere with the 5 km Iznik Unesco Run. I hereby invite everyone to experience this excitement and enthusiasm.”

Covid-19 precautions have been taken in the Iznik Ultra Marathon, which will be held for the first time after the pandemic. In addition, due to the fires affecting our country, the tracks were updated and the tracks passing through the forest were changed.
