Ministry of Commerce by the Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters Association focused on environmental sustainability activities.
EHKİB started environmental sustainability consultancy activities designed for 12 participating companies within the scope of the URGE Project.
The environmental sustainability consultancy process Scheduled to complete between February – May Burak Sertbaş, Chairman of the Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters Association, stated that with the planned consultancy program, the legal requirements of the companies within the scope of environmental legislation will be determined, environmental risk and opportunity analysis will be made and greenhouse gas emissions will be inventories prepared.
Stating that its importance is increasing day by day in terms of ready-made clothing sectors, Sertbaş said, “Brands and customers operating in the European Union and the United States, where we export more than 80 percent of our exports, pay special attention to the subject. The carbon tax will be implemented from 2022. With this consultancy activity designed within the scope of the project, we aim for our companies to focus on green production and to produce with less carbon emission to the nature. Sustainability is our priority. We work to ensure that inputs are procured in accordance with sustainability models, and that products can be designed in accordance with circular models. We aim to increase the sustainability competence and production of our companies with the opportunities offered by digitalization. ”
Reminding that the Turkish Fashion Industry has the advantage of being close to the European market, Sertbaş added that they want to crown this advantage with sustainable environmentally friendly production.
