Mardin Governor and Deputy Mayor Mahmut Demirtaş said that they aim to turn the award-winning Derik olive into a valley.
MARDIN (IGFA) – Governor in the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality meeting hall and the Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Mahmut Demirtaş, an evaluation meeting was held in order to increase the production of the Derik Halhalı Olive variety and to ensure the development of olive groves.
In order to increase the production of olives, the symbol and livelihood of Derik district, the Mardin Governorship and Metropolitan Governor Demirtaş stated that they plan to produce and distribute olive seedlings.
Emphasizing that receiving awards in competitions held in England and Japan is a great promotion for Derik olives, Governor Demirtaş said, “We, as the Governor’s Office and the Metropolitan Municipality, continue to work in cooperation with the relevant institutions in order to achieve the best efficiency in Derik olive. We plan to produce and distribute olive seedlings in order to contribute to the production of olives, one of the most important livelihoods of our citizens in our district, and to the development of our producers’ gardens. Our aim is to transform our district of Derik into an olive valley. ”
In addition to Governor Demirtaş, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Murat Süzen, Deputy Secretary General Adil Alan, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Menduh Dinler and the relevant people attended the meeting.
