Bursa’s water future is guaranteed

The ‘Drought and Water Management’ meeting was held in Bursa ‘with the aim of using water resources properly and correctly and preventing drought.

BURSA (İGFA) – Bursa’ Alinur Aktaş, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, who came together with the district mayors and NGO representatives at the meeting titled ‘Drought and Water Management’, said that they will minimize the risk of possible drought in Bursa by creating a savings culture and recycling waste water, by carrying Çınarcık Dam water to the city in 2023.

At the meeting held at Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center (Merinos AKKM), the participants expressed their views in areas such as the current water level of the city, the measures to be taken against drought and the recovery of waste water.

Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş reminded that the negative consequences of global climate change started to be felt in Bursa as well, and He stated that they have been working on ogic drought for “more than 1 year” under BUSKI. Stating that there are no problems at the moment due to the measures taken, Mayor Aktaş said that they will accelerate the Çınarcık Dam pipeline project, which will eliminate 30 problems of the city, and that they will bring 145 million cubic meters of additional water to Bursa in 2023. Stating that the rapidly rising world population, urbanization, industrialization and the rapid increase in agricultural activities did not give good signals for the future, President Aktaş explained that the solution proposals to be obtained from the meetings will be implemented in the short, medium and long term.
